Health & Safety Audits
Construction
An independent audit of health and safety on construction sites can be
undertaken. This would examine not only the contractors systems and procedures
on site but also the physical compliance with health and safety best practice.
Any urgent shortcomings would be reported to the site manager for immediate
attention, with any further comments forming part of our report for review /
implementation.
Workplace
The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974; the Workplace (Health, Safety and
Welfare) Regulations 1992; the Construction (Health Safety and Welfare)
Regulations 1996 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations
1999 amongst others have been around for many years. The objective was to reduce
the number of workplace fatalities and injuries, which was impacting on public
safety, business efficiencies and productivity.
Whilst the Regulations have resulted in significant gains, regular auditing
of the process is required to gain maximum benefit.
In addition, the process of compliance with 'workplace regulations' remains
ongoing as new legislation is introduced periodically including the Work at
Height Regulations 2005 (WHR), which came into force in April of that year,
which is based on a risk assessment approach. The WHR legislation places
obligations on 'duty holders' e.g. building owners, managers, employers,
facilities managers (amongst others) to assess and mitigate the risk of working
at heights, by ensuring that the work is carefully planned, organised,
controlled and implemented by competent persons, utilising safe and maintained
equipment. The purpose of the regulations is to provide a safe means of access
not only the occupants / staff but also contractors and visitors.
Fitzpatrick Property Consultants are able to procure audits on your behalf to
achieve compliance.
